Eating sustainable fish

Meijers has been active in the food sector for many years. One of our clients,
Fresh Fish Trader Jan van As, has supplied fish, shellfish and crustaceans to the food service industry, large users and the retail sector since 1949. In 2005, the company established the ‘Fish & Season Foundation’, a non-profit organisation.

The goal of this foundation is to encourage fishing by season and seasonal consumption of fish. That is required in order to preserve and restore global fish populations.

Meijers considers corporate social responsibility to be of paramount importance, and we therefore wholeheartedly support this foundation.

100% Fish & Season range

Every summer, the Fish & Season Foundation publishes the ‘100% Fish & Season range’. This is a calendar showing fish in the ‘right’ season, from a healthy population, of high quality and for which sustainable fishing techniques are used. The rule is simple: leave the fish alone during their breeding season.
