In my work I’m both creative and pragmatic – it varies. Much like the claims I process: always slightly different. Due to the constant contact I have with clients, insurers, experts and repairers, I realize all too well that insurance is teamwork. Within the team, I’m the first point of contact for the clients when it comes to real estate damage. I often immediately jump into the car after a report has been made to be able to assist the client – even in the weekend or in the middle of the night. That is part of it and gives me energy. It’s important to be there when someone needs you.

My specialty is property recourse: damage recovery and shifting risks to other parties involved. Everything for the client. I do a lot of my own research, I often manage to find out crucial data “via-via”, or via someone who knows someone who knows. Even better if you manage to get claims covered by the insurance. We also handle a lot of liability issues where the claims remain below the deductible. This is a regular occurrence in the real estate sector and can involve substantial amounts. Businesses can choose to pay the bill, of course, but with a recourse specialist by your side, you would be amazed at how much more there is to claim. Total unburdening, that is what we strive for!

As an insurance broker, we are the signpost for the client in insurance land. The more complex a case, the better. When different claims accumulate, many different parties are often involved. It’s up to me to ensure that the client gets what he’s entitled to. It’s an interesting challenge to go through policies and find ways to get claims covered. Meijers has established good relationships with insurers and experts, which means expeditious settlements. That is of course advantageous in the real estate industry where our clients are quickly compensated and can return to business as usual.
